Raul Aguirre Jr. was born in East L.A. but grew up on the mean streets of Hacienda Heights California. Back when he was 3 heads tall Raul picked up a crayon and did his version of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel only instead of biblical figures, his featured Popeye battling Mighty Mouse While Dinosaurs in Spaceships carpet bombed the Legion of Doom. Unfortunately he chose to create his first masterpiece on his mother’s living room wall. The combination of laughter and horror on his mother’s face left an indelible mark on the lad. He learned Art is Powerful! From that moment on Raul decided he wanted to become an artist.

For the next 30 years Raul embarked on a lone quest for artistic mastery with an unwavering Quixote-like madness and dedication.

After high school, Raul entered the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program at the Art institute of Southern California (Recently renamed to The Laguna College of Art and Design) where he received 2 years worth of a solid art foundation. At the same time he was studying animation at the fabulous Rowland Animation.

Raul was quickly recruited by Walt Disney Feature Animation in 1994. For years Raul honed his craft, and learned everything about the animation process he could from the artistic geniuses that surrounded him. Raul worked on such features as, Pocahontas, Tarzan, and Treasure Planet, spending over two years as Glen Keane’s protégé and the last Disney Animator Trained by Glen in Disney Traditional 2D Feature Animation.

In 2003 Raul created Illegal Alien Productions recently renamed Studio Raul in South Gate California to develop his own projects and produce freelance animation. He has created well over a dozen unique and stylish, High-Concept properties ranging from Preschool to Prime Time content. With Raul’s creativity, determination, and problem solving skills, Studio Aguirre is proving to be a dynamic creative force on the verge of blowing up.

Frederator and Nickelodeon green lit Raul to produce his own creation Hero Heights for the Random Cartoons show in late 2005. Raul was credited as Creator, Co-Executive Producer, Director, Writer,Storyboard artist, Voice Director, and even provided a voice himself. Recently Raul did a season of storyboards for Fox TV’s Family Guy.

Besides creating tomorrow’s cartoons Raul does a lot of painting, freelance animation, storyboards, character design, portrait commissions, development of his Feature and TV Intellectual Properties as well as writing Pitch materials, screenplays and short stories. In his spare time Raul enjoys golf, travel, fine dining, photography and reading.

Raul Aguirre Jr. and his lovely wife Hortencia reside in their Chateau nestled in beautiful South Gate Ca.

    Scott, Miles & M,

How are we all? That’s the spirit !

Got some 2 cents for ya! 🙂

Re: Ant-Man, I’m not a huge fan of his character or of Wasp (not Pixie) either but after watching The Avengers Animated series I warmed up to them. With both characters are scientists so the idea of having someone like Paul Rudd, 44, makes sense in a way because I can see an actor in Kellan Lutz’s callibar as a scientist. I didn’t work for Denise Richards in Golden Eye, it won’t work here. I see they’re talking Rashinda Jones (Parks & Rec) as a possible Wasp which I thought was a interesting choice. I know Ant-Man isn’t a major character in the Marvel Universe, but he was a founding member of The Avengers and the creator of Ultron (Avengers 2 baddie which they’ve altered his origin story). Ant-Man has the abilities to not only shrink to the size of, I don’t know, what’ something small? As well as grow to the size of a building. (Pacific Rim anone?). That being said I think the action scenes with him altering his size could be pretty bad ass if that leaked comic con footage is anything to go by. Wasp, gets her powers from Ant-Man, and she also shrinks to, yes you guessed it, the size of a wasp and she shoots ‘stings’ laser beams from her hands. (Pointless but still…).
Although I don’t see either of the actors as action stars! think back to Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, not who I’d pick! but still worked.

    Watching-

Angents of Sheild : I want to love this show so much! It’s just not getting me as excited as I had hoped. I love the dialogue, Ming Na Wen and the two imports from the UK. But there’s something I can’t out my finger on. The show just seems very familiar with shows we’ve seen before ( Alphas, X-Men,X Files). I’d like to see more connection to the comic verse, even with the more minor character, perhaps they will down the track. I’ll still be watching, I just hope it picks up steam a little sooner.

Sleepy Hollow – I watched the 1st one, I like the concept, just haven’t been in a rush to watch the rest, I hope that not a bad sign.

Walking Dead – another great show, but 4 (as of today) episode in and not a lot has happened except for a lot of setting up). Looks like things zombie wise will be picking up now though next week…cross fingers.

Last film I saw was Gravity, a great film, I reckon Sandra will be up for an Oscar for this one, since she carries the frickin thing. Beautiful to watch, the visuals were breath taking. I know you guys say you’re not a fan of 3D films! but this was done perfectly for that platform. The scale of the planet against the shuttles against the actors….really takes you back.

Looking forward to Thor 2! That looks soooooo good! Christopher Eccleston! Hello!

There’s my rant until next time…. Happy Halloween America

    Damian
