Michael Jan Friedman’s New Superhero Universe | The Company of Enhanced Beings

Michael Jan Friedman on The Company of Enhanced Beings & His Legion of Super-Heroes Inspiration

New York Times bestselling author Michael Jan Friedman joins The SciFi Diner Podcast to talk about his upcoming Kickstarter for The Company of Enhanced Beings, a new collection of interconnected superhero stories inspired by his love of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Each story focuses on a different member—or members—of the Company, exploring their powers, personalities, relationships, and the situations that test them. Michael talks with us about the origins of the project, why the Legion remains such an important influence, creating an ensemble of superheroes, and the classic comic-book spirit behind the book.

We also dig into Michael’s long career as a writer, the challenges of moving between established universes and his own creations, and what makes superhero teams compelling decades after their creation.

If you grew up reading DC Comics, Adventure Comics, the Legion of Super-Heroes, or simply love old-school superhero storytelling, this conversation is for you.

Subscribe to The SciFi Diner Podcast for more conversations with the writers, actors, and creators behind science fiction, fantasy, comics, and pop culture.
