I saw THOR in 3D tonight and I found it extremely disappointing. 2 stars out of 5. The cheesy "Digital 3D" effect sucked all of the details out of the cinematography. Almost everything going on in the backgrounds is lost in a digital mush, and I found that 3D foreground objects (like beer bottles) were just a stupid use of the technology.
This is clearly an "introduction to Thor" movie and it definitely lacks substance, it couldn't even be called an "origins" movie because there's just not enough there. It certainly lacks the energy and impact of Iron Man 1. For me it was a big let-down after all of the hype leading up to it. Thor has always been one of my favourite Marvel characters and they ruined it with stupid video effects, not even visual effects. Without the "3D" I might have been able to give it 3 stars out of 5, but it feels like half a film to me.
This will definitely be the last time I ever waste my money on something presented in "Digital 3D." The sooner that Hollywood gets over this fad, the better. Have they learned nothing from "3D TV"?
